Best Graphic Design

  • Layout — is it effective and engaging? Consider use of color, type,
    art/photos, etc.
  • Is there a consistent visual style throughout the site?
  • Is the site/page load time reasonable (consider your connection speed)?

Best Site Navigation/Structure

  • Is there a consistent navigation system throughout the site?
  • Is the overall structure intuitive to users?
  • Is the content presented effectively?

Best Interactive

  • Assess the degree to which the site allows for user interaction
    (e.g. — e-mail forms/user feedback forms, etc.)
  • Does the site allow users to communicate with one another?
  • Assess the ease of use in searching the site for content.

Most Innovative

  • Site incorporates design and/or other elements in a unique way
  • Does site effectively use newer technologies such as Shockwave, RealAudio, ActiveX, Active Server Pages, etc.?

Best Electronic Commerce

  • Does site use secure technology for ordering? Is this clearly explained to potential customers?
  • Are the site's products/services clearly presented? Is customer service easy to access if you have a problem or question?
  • Are ordering options clearly presented? Is there an option to order offline — by phone, fax and/or mail? Are refund policies clear and easy to use? Are privacy rights explained?
  • Is the site's overall buying experience an improvement over traditional retail or catalog?
