Fall 2000 Judges

Patricia Barbee has over 18 years of experience in the retirement housing and the senior living industry. She directs SAGEport’s Senior Network efforts, introducing the many benefits of the internet to seniors and helping them integrate the internet into their lives. She works with individuals as well as retirement centers and other senior service organizations to provide internet access for seniors.

Judi Delgado is Director of the Macular Degeneration Partnership, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing accurate, timely and unbiased information about age-related macular degeneration (AMD). She developed and maintains their website (www.macd.net), writes articles for the online monthly newsletter, facilitates a local support group and works with the eye community to disseminate this critical information. Over a 30 year career, Ms. Delgado has managed healthcare organizations in universities, hospitals and the private sector. She is a member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the Medical Group Practice Association.

Jennifer E. Rabalais, Jennifer E. Rabalais, Management Information Specialist for Southwest Tenessee Area Agency on Aging, is responsible for all installation, training, reviewing and technical support for the SAMS database in her district. She compiles reports for submission to Tennnessee Commission on Aging, provides technical assistance to office staff and updates the webpage. She graduated from Dyersburg State Community College in 1998.

Diane L. Schirf is a marketing and public relations copy writer for Classic Residence by Hyatt, the senior living affiliate of Hyatt Corporation. She is also responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of the company's Web site at www.hyattclassic.com. Prior to joining Classic Residence in 1999, Schirf served as an employee/retiree benefits communications consultant with a major business consulting firm in Chicago.

Mickie Smalling is president of Local Market Insight (LMI), a Chicago based consulting business, specializing in e-business strategy for organizations serving the mature market. As president of LMI, Mickie helps clients expand their Internet Websites into community specific portals. These portals create a web presence that increases value for consumers, creates sticky applications for increased traffic and facilitates revenue through Web commerce affiliate marketing programs. As a result of her fieldwork for clients such as Sunrise Assisted Living, Ms. Smalling has developed extensive insight into technology and e-health applications serving both consumers and providers of senior services.
